'an outstanding college' - Ofsted Inspection
Celebrating Student Success
South Downs College is celebrating after achieving a 99.5% A Level pass rate, the highest in the College’s history. This is an outstanding achievement in itself, but when considered in the context of the staggering number of 1459 entries, the true magnitude of this achievement becomes clear
Of the 42 subjects sat, 35 achieved a 100% pass rate and 78% of our students achieved an A-C grade and 47% achieving an A or B grade. German, Spanish, Critical Thinking and Dance achieved 100% A-C profile, with Law, Politics, Film Studies, Sociology, with nearly 200 entrants, following closely behind with A-C profiles of 94% and over.
This really is the crowning glory of a superb academic year for the College, whose Ofsted Report published in February 2008 placed them as one of the top colleges in England.
Principal Michael Oakes said “I am delighted for students and staff who have worked together tirelessly to achieve a superb success”.
