HowToMoodle was founded by Director Ray Lawrence in October 2004 as the first company in the world set up to exclusively offer training and "front end" Moodle consultancy. Ray first encountered Moodle in the summer of 2002, as part of a research project on e-learning for a major UK insurance company just as version 1.0 was about to be released. Recognising the potential of Moodle early on Ray became involved in the Moodle community and made the decision to establish a business offering training and consultancy support for organisations using Moodle to support their learning or community based activities. HowToMoodle was accepted as a Moodle Partner in 2004 and is authorised to provide support services by Moodle Pty Ltd in Perth, Australia. A key element of HowToMoodle's commitment in the Moodle Partner agreement is make a financial contribution to sustain Moodle development for the benefit of educators worldwide. The business has grown since its early days and now engages a team of practitioner consultants across the UK that deliver quality training and pragmatic consultancy solutions for clients. The successful forging of strategic partnerships to accommodate clients' customisation, hosting and integration needs means that HowToMoodle has the capability to satisfy the implementation and support needs of organisations of any size in any sector.
Ray says: 'With the exponential growth in the adoption of Moodle it's often easy to forget that it was largely unknown when I first considered starting a Moodle business. Colleagues were bewildered as to why I would leave a successful career to jump (apparently) into the void. I'm delighted that Moodle has become the conduit to affordable e-learning in so many organisations and equally delighted that HowToMoodle has played a significant part in aiding them by providing high quality support services. It's also great that we're able to play an important role in Moodle's ongoing sustainability. Whilst leading HowToMoodle I've met many, many people from a wide variety of sectors who are passionate about enhancing, extending and embedding learning and are excited about introducing this (often) new experience to their learners and colleagues. It's also a great privilege to be working with such a great team at HowToMoodle and with our strategic partners who combine a client centred approach with a passion for Moodle.' |
